Let’s see how to add a virtual machine to to a Hyper-V cluster for a high availability. So in-order to achieve this you need to make sure that the VM’s files are pointed to a cluster shared volume.  So in case if your VM is not position in a CSV you need to move that to a shared storage.

If the VM is already pointed to CSV you can follow below steps to configure a virtual machine for High availability.

1) Open Failover Cluster Manager.

2) Click on Roles then select Configure Role option.

3) This will launch the High Availability Wizard. Now select the Virtual Machine role and click on Next button.

4) On the next window it will display the Virtual Machines that can be configured for high availability. That’s it you have now configured high availability for a preferred Virtual Machine.
